Responsibilities/Duties: 

The Technical Services Specialist will provide faculty, staff and students with technologies and support services to facilitate their academic endeavors through research, learning and instruction. They will manage and process the helpdesk support ticketing system as well as council, support and direct activities of student technical support staff. The Technical Services Specialist must communicate available and upcoming technical services and resources to the campus community, as well as facilitate faculty, staff and students in the use of campus technology. They must coordinate and execute campus-wide information technology strategies while updating and managing various information technology services, software and hardware.

 

Skill Sets: 

The Technical Services Specialist must have effective organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities, project planning, development, and implementation skills. They must have the ability to take initiative and work independently as required, to properly gather information, perform troubleshooting, research and implement solutions. The Technical Services Specialist must have experience with applications to manage deployment and security of devices and applications across an enterprise network. They must also have the ability to interact well with fellow staff and clients while maintaining confidentiality. Excellent communication skills and collaborative team mindset is necessary for this position. The Technical Services Specialist must have knowledge of University's mission, goals and purpose, and the position's role in achieving them.

It is desired, but not required that the Technical Services Specialist has network management skills, varied programming skills, the ability to manage multiple projects with multiple managers, and experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (2007, 2012+)

 

Minimum Experience Required:

It is required that the Technical Services Specialist has demonstrated helpdesk/client support, has substantial computer hardware expertise, PC software expertise (Office, Windows OS, e-mail, networking), and Mac OS software expertise. It is necessary that they also have at least 1 year experience administering Windows workstations in an enterprise environment, administering workstations in lab environments, and administering printers in an enterprise environment.

 

Education Requirements:

It is a requirement to have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
