The Director of Student Leadership and Involvement is primarily responsible for working with students to enhance their development at the University by providing opportunities for leadership training, as well as, student activities involvement while enhancing the social, cultural, educational, and spiritual atmosphere of the Concordia community.  The Director of Student Leadership and Involvement serves as an advisor for the Student Government Association.  The Director also oversees the efforts of the Campus Activities Board, a student programming body that oversees events such as Homecoming Week, Spring Formal, and monthly social programs.

The Director Student Leadership and Involvement works collaboratively with the Director of Residence Life, Director of Athletics, Director of University Events, Campus Deaconess & Campus Pastor, Director of Alumni Relations, Director of the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement, and the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and other key university personnel.  The Director of Student Leadership and Involvement must demonstrate a commitment to a Christian, faith-based collegiate experience and exhibit behavior that is consistent with an individual who serves with integrity and good character.

Skill Sets:

  • Enthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education and the mission, vision, and core values of Concordia University Chicago.
  • Effective at project management in a self-directed environment, including: taking initiative, being self-motivated, setting timelines, organizing work with attention to detail, and following through on tasks.
  • Effective communication skills, including: written, interpersonal, and public speaking
  • Experience building collaborative interpersonal relationships.
  • Capable of developing and endorsing programs that align with the University's mission statement and core values.
  • Proficient in effectively working with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to accurately prepare records and reports.
  • Adept at training, supervising, and evaluating office personnel.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
  • Evening and weekend presence required. Some travel required.

Education Requirements:

Bachelors degree required.  Masters degree preferred.
